An individual is wrestling with whether or not to let someone go. She feels she hasn't loved him well enough but she continues to string him along and hurt him in the process.

This song actually has a bit more of my life in it than most of my other songs. The first few stanzas capture the mentality I have had towards men I have felt I "loved."

But this "love" always seems to turn out to be a passing fancy, a short-lived although passionate attentiveness that I misinterpret as something deeper. I am still learning the difference between these two very disparate affinities.
